Mason Trueblood was born and raised in Bakersfield, California to parents Kevin and Cindy Trueblood - owners of the dance studio, Civic Dance Center. As a child, Mason would sit beside his parents in the studio and watch in awe as they recreated The Nutcracker Ballet each year. He wasn’t sure he liked dance, but he knew he liked the pretty girls, so by seven years old Mason was taking ballet. It wasn’t long before he picked up jazz, tap, hip-hop and musical theatre as well, wondering all the while why more boys didn’t realize how awesome it was.
Dancing quickly became his favorite hobby - He loved it, and not just for the girls. He loved learning the new techniques and the challenges each class presented to become a stronger, better, and more creative dancer. He loved pushing himself harder and striving for more. He loved the thrill of performing live in front of an audience, but more so, he loved the rehearsal process of getting there.
Seeking to do more, Mason began participating in community theatre and he found a love for singing and acting as well. He started taking acting classes in Los Angeles and he began singing in the choir at his High School. He began teaching classes at his parent’s studio and choreographing dances for the annual studio show. With all the extra time he didn’t have, he also began directing, filming, editing, and acting in short movies with his friends. Anything that allowed Mason a creative outlet for pouring-out his imagination became a necessary skill for him to learn.
With his passion for performing, creating, teaching, and entertaining Mason entered The University of California Irvine to grow both academically and artistically. Profoundly impacted by his professors and colleagues, Mason grew to understand himself as an artist - uniquely and distinctly himself. He recently graduated with his B.F.A. in Dance Performance and his B.A. in Film & Media Studies.
Mason is now currently living and working in Los Angeles, CA and seeking to impact the industry in a positive and powerful way. He is thankful for whatever path is before him and is determined to work his hardest and take advantage of any opportunity he has to inspire, encourage, and love the people around him.
